Geomechanics crew helps retrieve part of a shipwreck for the East London Museum

Geomechanics crew uses the Geomechanics crane truck to retrieve a piece of a shipwreck that was washed up onto Cintsa East beach just outside East London. Here is the letter from the Principal Natural Scientist and the East London Museum

TO: Mr Barry Kruger
Regional Manager (Eastern Cape)
Geomechanics

Dear Barry,

This email serves to confirm that through you and the kind effort of your team at Geomechanics the shipwreck material which washed out at Cintsa recently has been carefully and safely secured at the museum.

The task to retrieve the large piece of wood was beyond our means and your willingness to get it under the museum's curatorial expertise quickly will be of great value to researchers.

I will be sure to acknowledge your company for this when I submit my reports and also in our museum newsletter.

Please convey my thanks to Guy Swart, Petrus Swarts and Elija Mahlangu for logistical expertise in handling and transporting the shipwreck material carefully.

Thanks again.

Kind regards
Kevin
